"Protetto per la notte" is the seventh painting in my "Serie di Venezia," a series capturing the unique and often overlooked moments from my travels in Venice. This piece draws attention to the quiet solitude of a gondola tied up by itself, resting in the soft evening shade. As the sun set on the buildings behind, the calm and peace of the scene resonated deeply with me. While the subject may be familiar, it was the composition and mood that inspired me to capture this fleeting moment. A perfect example of the essence of Venice, and the delicate balance of light, shadow, and stillness that defines this series."

Painting Details:

• Painting Size: 24"w x 38"h
• Custom built canvas stretcher built by the Artist, prepared with 3 coats of Blick Professional Gesso and an additional original painting “under coat” of Red and Orange Oil Paint
• Brushes; Grumbacher Bristle Flat #2, #3, #4, Round #1, Winsor & Newton Bristle Filbert #2, Princeton Bristle Flat #2, #3, Davinci Kolnsky Flat #2 and Escoda Clasico Chungking White Flat #6 #8
• Paint; Winsor & Newton Artist Colour, Gamblin Artist Oil, Old Holland Oil Colors, Blockx Oil Colors and Sennelier Artist Oil. 12 different base colors mixed to hue and varying thickness. Liquin and Colbalt dryer agents used to thin paint and speed-up “drying” time
• Final painting was sealed using 2 coats of Gamvar High Gloss after two(2) month “drying” time

Custom Frame Details:

• Frame Size: 26"w x 40"h x 2.6"d
• Shadow Box style frame made of Red Oak by the Artist exclusively for this painting in 2021
• Shadow width ¼” from canvas to frame and the frame edge width is 3/4” wide
• Frame is Stained and Varnished with 2 coats of Dark Ebony Satin finish
• 100lb. rated picture cable (overkill I know…) through stainless steel eye-hooks is used to hang the entire piece. (20lbs. total weight for canvas and frame)
