The Flight
“The Flight” is No. 2 in a series I was doing during my last painting spell in the late 90’s, early 2000’s (this one is signed ©2003, but that was done a few years after its completion) and was the third to last painting I was to do until 2018. This style was something I was really interested in experimenting with and I was building off of an earlier painting: No. 1, now lost to the ages and sadly was my favorite personal painting of all time. This is the only remaining painting that was very close to getting the style I was after. Playing with thicker and more rapid brushstrokes, trying to “loosen-up” as much as possible, not sweat the details and expanding layers. It’s an attempt at Impressionism and I gave up on that style way too soon and was never really able to get it dialed-in. I shall explore this area again. It is still one of my favorite paintings and holds a lot of sentimental value to me and that is why it hangs on my wall over my editing desk to this day.
